One of the best resources to learn guitar online is Youtube.  Just search “learn guitar” on Youtube and you’ll get thousands of hits from helpful guitarists who’ve made videos of themselves teaching the basics of the instrument.  You’ll learn the scales, the frets, your chords, proper picking technique, and even how to change strings and tune your instrument.  All without the cost of taking lessons or bugging your musically talented friends to teach you.  Most of us never progress from playing air guitar behind closed doors. Some more determined people strive to make the rock and roll dream come true. Budget is often an issue when starting out and cheap electric guitars are the answer.
